About Allan Hewick

Training for competitive whitewater kayak slalom as a teenager sparked an interest in exercise physiology, which Allan pursued via a Physical Education degree at McMaster University. Treatment of conditions such as heart attacks and spinal cord injuries and especially all types of musculoskeletal dysfunctions lead him to remain for another degree in Physiotherapy and finalize his chosen profession.

Work experience in hospital spinal cord, orthopedic and joint replacement units, home care as well as private clinic sports injury work has given him a wide clinical repertoire to draw from. Postgraduate training includes formal acupuncture certification, many courses on orthopaedic manual therapy and specialized exercise program design that continually add to the clinical toolbox of options and experience that he brings to each treatment session. Equally important are the skills of listening, communicating and relating in a way that enlightens and empowers his clients to be better CEOs of their own health.

Allan’s other interests include hiking, mountain biking, renovating, kayaking, tennis and practically anything outdoors. No matter your job or hobby, chances are that he has either worked as, played with or treated someone in your situation. After 25 years, helping each new client is still an intriguing and rewarding challenge whether their goals are sitting without pain, gardening, increasing basic mobility or playing a sport at an elite level.

Allan currently provides in-home physiotherapy treatment primarily in Burlington.
